How to Properly Shoot a Compound Bow?

compound bow
This amazing archery weapon is a type of bow that uses a pulley system of cams to draw the string back. The modern "compound" bow is actually an updated version of the traditional longbow, a long, straight and flexible elastic stick traditionally made from yew or elm.

These bows are now made from carbon fiber and are much more powerful than the old bows. A compound one is adjustable and can be used by ANYONE, including women. Let's look at the history of this bow...

An Overview of History:

A longbow (compound) is a wooden weapon that is used in archery tournaments and in traditional archery practice. They are used for hunting animals such as deer, foxes and other wild animals. In recent years, these bows have become popular for target practice because of their accuracy, power and ease of use.

"The first bows, made by Chinese craftsmen in the 11th century, could propel an arrow up to 500 yards (457 meters) in a minute. By the 17th century more powerful bows were known throughout Europe. These early bows were made of bamboo and had taut stringing, which produced arrows with a range of 250 yards (226 meters). Some of these bows weighed as much as 100 pounds."

Forged from one piece of carbon fiber this bow has a great draw length adjustment of 13", and at 30% let-off it becomes a recurve bow. In a compound bow, the cam system makes the bow very efficient at delivering power to the arrow.

This bow is equipped with a 6.5 lb. draw weight and an arrow capacity of 15 arrows. The string responds extremely well and has an amazing feel to it; I couldn't ask for better performance from this bow! It's easy to hit your target with this bow because of its great draw weight (weight) and let-off ability.

Shooting in A Right Way:

If you're a hunter, archer, or just want to shoot bows, then you're in luck! Here are all the instructions for shooting a bow. You'll need to get a few things ready before you start, but after that it's smooth sailing. This includes:

·    A compound bow with a crossbow bolt tip, rubber or plastic (you can buy them in hardware stores)

·        A range target

·        A few rubber bands for tension adjustments (or even string for increased speed)

Enough Space for Practice

The most important thing you'll need is to have enough room - plenty of it. It's a good idea to get a clear flat surface about 7 feet away from where you're shooting. This will give you enough space to shoot without being too close or too far away from your targets.

So nice, clear floor is best so the arrows can go straight as you're not going to be able to see any irregularities in your floor.

·        Basic Considerations

There are many things to think about before you decide on the right bow. You'll need to consider size, weight (if you're a strong archer, don't get a super heavy bow or you won't be able to shoot it) as well as simplicity and price.

So if you know exactly what type of archery skill sets you're wanting to improve here is everything that needs to be considered before you purchase a new bow.

·        Key Specifications:

The manufacturer will have different specifications for the bows but here are some general specs for reference. The draw weight and poundage is how much pressure each hand must exert in order for the bowstring to draw back the arrows. Draw weight is measured in pounds and poundage is measured in ounces.

·        Straightness of the Bow String

The main parts of the bowstring should be straight, usually around 45 to 60 degrees. If the bowstring is not straight it will not perform well in a compound bow and potentially cause misfires or breakages.

·        Draw Length

The board that holds the string against your Release of Draw (ROD) should be within 3" inches of your hand. This is because so many factors can affect how far you can draw an arrow fully back, such as how strong or weak you are or the type of arrow shaft you use.

Safety Measures to Avoid Risks!

There are a plethora of safety measures to be taken when using a compound bow. Whether you're shooting in a field, on the edge of a cliff or hunting, there are certain areas that should be paid extra attention to.

For instance, if you're going to use your bow for hunting game such as elk or deer then you need to make sure that your arrow rests on the back side of the bow when not in use as this part is called the nock. If your arrow falls off and goes into one of these animals it could potentially cause serious injury or death.
